New student registration is open for ESL, GED & Workforce Training classes

English as a Second Language (ESL) & Citizenship

Northwest Shoals Community College offers free English and citizenship classes.

These classes help students:

  • Learn English words and simple sentences

  • Improve reading, speaking, and listening

  • Learn English for work and everyday life

  • Get ready for college or a job

  • Prepare for the U.S. citizenship test

The program is for beginner to advanced English learners. It helps students communicate better in daily life, at work, and in school.

Classes are friendly and supportive. Students are encouraged to learn and grow.
